How Our Buying Program Works

Selling your pallets to Cleveland Pallet is a straightforward, six-step process designed to be as simple and fast as possible. From your first contact to receiving payment, we handle the heavy lifting so you can focus on your business.

Step 01

Submit Your Information

Fill out our contact form with details about your pallet inventory. Include the approximate quantity, general condition, pallet sizes, and your facility location. Photos are helpful but not required at this stage. We respond to all inquiries within 2 business hours.

Step 02

Receive Your Quote

Our team evaluates your pallet details and provides a competitive offer based on current market rates, pallet condition, quantity, and location. For larger lots, we may schedule a brief on-site visit to assess the inventory in person and provide the most accurate pricing possible.

Step 03

Accept & Schedule

Once you accept our offer, we schedule a pickup at a time that works for your operations. We offer flexible time windows including early morning, afternoon, and weekend options for businesses that need off-hours service. You choose the date and time that works best.

Step 04

We Handle the Pickup

Our professional crew arrives with the right equipment to load your pallets quickly and safely. We bring our own forklifts and trucks, so your equipment and staff can stay focused on your core operations. The entire process is typically completed in under an hour for standard loads.

Step 05

Inspection & Sorting

Back at our facility, every pallet is individually inspected and sorted by grade. Pallets suitable for resale are cleaned and graded. Pallets needing repair go to our workshop. Pallets beyond repair enter our recycling process. Nothing goes to waste.

Step 06

Payment Processing

Payment is processed promptly after the final count and grading. We offer payment by check, ACH direct deposit, or credit toward future pallet purchases. Standard payment terms are net-15 for established accounts, with faster options available for new relationships.

What We Buy

We purchase a wide range of pallet types and conditions. Whether you have a small stack of standard pallets or a warehouse full of mixed inventory, we are interested. Here is a detailed look at the types of pallets we buy.

Standard GMA pallets (48x40)

The most common pallet size in North America. Always in high demand with top pricing.

Non-standard wood pallets

All sizes including 42x42, 48x48, 36x36, and custom dimensions.

Plastic pallets (any condition)

HDPE, PP, and other plastic types. Recyclable material holds strong value.

Pallet collars and accessories

Collars, lids, dividers, and other pallet accessories bought separately or with pallets.

Broken or damaged pallets

Repairable pallets are refurbished. Beyond-repair pallets are recycled into useful products.

Large surplus lots (100+)

Bulk quantities receive premium pricing and priority pickup scheduling.

Heat-treated (ISPM-15) pallets

Previously treated pallets for export use. Higher value due to treatment certification.

Hardwood and softwood pallets

Both types accepted. Hardwood typically commands slightly higher pricing.

Pricing

What Affects Pallet Value

Several factors influence how much we pay for your pallets. Understanding these factors can help you maximize the value of your pallet inventory and plan your sales strategy for the best possible return.

📐

Pallet Size

Standard 48x40 GMA pallets command the highest prices because of their universal demand across industries. Non-standard sizes are still purchased but may be priced differently depending on current market demand and our ability to resell or repurpose them.

Condition & Grade

Pallets in excellent condition with no broken boards, splits, or protruding nails receive top dollar. Pallets with minor damage are still valuable and purchased at adjusted rates. Even heavily damaged pallets have recycling value and we will make an offer on them.

📊

Quantity Available

Larger lots of pallets are more efficient for us to pick up and process, so we offer better per-pallet pricing for bulk quantities. If you have 100 or more pallets, you will see a noticeable improvement in your per-unit price compared to smaller lots.

🪵

Wood Type

Hardwood pallets generally command higher prices than softwood because of their superior durability and longer usable life. We accept both types and evaluate each load based on the mix of materials present and their condition.

📍

Location

Pallets located within our primary 75-mile service radius around Cleveland receive the best pricing because transportation costs are lower. We do purchase pallets from locations farther away, but transportation costs may affect the final offer.

📈

Market Demand

Pallet prices fluctuate with supply and demand. During peak shipping seasons, demand for used pallets rises and so do the prices we pay. We stay transparent about market conditions and always offer fair, competitive rates based on current market data.

Condition Guide

Pallet Grading & Condition Guide

Understanding how we grade pallets helps you estimate the value of your inventory before contacting us. Here is our grading system explained in detail so you know what to expect.

Grade A — Premium

Highest value

Pallets in excellent condition with no broken boards, no significant staining, and all structural components intact. These pallets look nearly new and are suitable for retail display, food-grade applications, and export shipping. Grade A pallets command the highest purchase prices.

Grade B — Standard

Good value

Fully functional pallets with minor cosmetic wear such as light staining, surface scratches, or slight discoloration. All boards and stringers are structurally sound, and the pallet can handle full rated loads. Grade B is the most common grade and represents excellent value.

Grade C — Economy

Moderate value

Structurally sound pallets with visible wear including moderate staining, minor board repairs, or cosmetic imperfections. These pallets are ideal for one-way shipping, internal warehouse use, and storage applications where appearance is not a priority.

Damaged / Scrap

Recycling value

Pallets with broken boards, split stringers, missing components, or other damage that makes them unsuitable for direct reuse. We still purchase these pallets for their recycling value. Usable components are salvaged for repairs, and the remaining wood is processed into mulch, fuel, or bedding.

Volume Bonuses

Bulk Selling Advantages

The more pallets you sell to us, the better your per-pallet price. Our tiered pricing structure rewards businesses that have larger quantities available, making it worth accumulating pallets for a bigger payout.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no minimum. We purchase any quantity from a single pallet to truckloads of thousands. However, for very small quantities (under 10 pallets), we may combine your pickup with other stops in the area to keep the process efficient for both parties.
Yes, we purchase plastic pallets in any condition. Plastic pallets hold their value well because the material can be recycled indefinitely. We accept HDPE, PP, and other common plastic pallet types and offer competitive pricing based on condition and market demand.
Almost every pallet has value, whether for resale, repair, or recycling. Even severely damaged wood pallets can be ground into mulch or biomass fuel. Send us a photo or description and we will provide an honest assessment of what your pallets are worth in the current market.
Absolutely. Many of our clients set up weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickup schedules. Regular pickups help keep your dock area clear and ensure you are always getting paid for pallets that would otherwise take up valuable warehouse space. We handle all the scheduling and logistics.
No sorting is required. Our crew handles all sorting during and after pickup. However, if your pallets are already separated by size or condition, it can speed up the process and may result in a slightly better offer since our assessment is more accurate with pre-sorted inventory.
Pallets in good condition are cleaned, inspected, and resold to businesses that need affordable, quality pallets. Damaged pallets are repaired in our workshop and returned to service. Pallets beyond repair are recycled into mulch, animal bedding, biomass fuel, and other useful products. We maintain a 98% waste diversion rate.
